With an academic
background in fine art and fashion, and experience within
the trend-forecasting industry, Emily Beckmann now works
professionally as an artist and designer.
Her work is concept-based, directional and multi-disciplinary.
In her capacity
as an artist, Beckmann has been invited to exhibit work
in many solo and groups shows. Galleries include; City Gallery,
Leicester; S1 Artspace, Sheffield; The Changing Room, Stirling;
Rufford Craft Centre, Newark and The Park Gallery, Falkirk.
As a designer
Beckmann creates intriguing and unusual stitched objects,
by focusing on contemporary textures, colour and form. In
the past, her stitched-jewellery has included found objects
and ceramics.
Her earlier stitched
jewellery pieces have been sold as ‘ready-to-wear’
at; The Park Gallery, Falkirk; Platlform Gallery, Clitheroe;
Velvet Boutique and Edinburgh galleries, Red Door Gallery
and Concrete Wardrobe.
